Central Market@Pasar Seni

Since the 15th April 2004 Central Market was taken over by a new organization called Central Market Sdn.Bhd. headed by Mr. Bernard Bong Yam Keng.

Central Market Sdn.Bhd.(formerly known as Prestige Debut Sdn.Bhd.) was incorporated in the 24th February 2004 with the aim to manage and operate Central Market to be recognized as a culture centre for Malaysia Arts, Handicrafts, Batik and to promote the Malaysia Culture and Heritage.

The Management Team’s aim is to manage and bring Central Market to be a World Class Tourist Destination through Operational Management Excellence Programmes.

Since the end of 2005, Central Market has gone through an extensive renovation and upgrading programme which witnesses the emergence of the following :

Jonker Street A replica of the Malacca-styled stalls which display and sell a wide variety of handicrafts and souvenirs.

Mangrove Food Court A food court imposing a theme of nature, depicting “bakau” from the mangrove swamp and selling a wide spectrum of Malaysian food typical of every state throughout Malaysia.

Oldtown Kopitiam An old fashion classic coffee shop of the Malacca “Baba Nyonya” era serving local food.

Lorong Melayu, Lorong India and the Straits Chinese Streets Streets reflecting the multi-ethnicity of Malaysia displaying and selling traditional and Malaysian made products.

Batik Emporium Seen as one of the biggest “Batik Emporium” in Kuala Lumpur promoting and selling a wide range of Batik apparels and accessories.

Arts Gallery A gallery to showcase Malaysian artistry and talent as well as to promote Malaysian Arts and Handicrafts.

As you browse around and savor in the uniqueness of the Central Market, you will be enthralled by a wide range of over 250 quaint shops featuring traditional arts and crafts from gold embroidery, silverwares, silk, Baba Nyonya antiques, krises, kites, wood crafts, carvings, souvenirs and many more.

Complementing the leisurely charming ambience of Central Market are portrait painters, fortune tellers and palmist who will make your visit that much more memorable.

A the same time, you will be able to satisfy your palate with the myriad range of food and eateries which feature mouth watering local, oriental and western dishes.



How to go there:
You can either take a bus,LRT or KTM commuter. The best choice is PUTRA LRT,where you can stop at Pasar Seni Station. From the Pasar Seni station,you already can see the KL Central Market.

Nearest Hotspot:
1.Petaling Street-2 minutes walking-for cheap stuff,but not recommended.
2.Dataran Merdeka-5 minutes walking-you can snap nice photo there.
3.Masjid Jamek-5 minutes walking-you can snap nice photo there.
4.Pudu Raya- 10 minutes walking.a cental Bus Hub to North,South,East Malaysia
